Drag racing is near and dear to me. My Dad has been drag racing since before I was born, so my brothers and I spent a lot of time in the stands and pits seeing some of the fastest cars in the world. I actually gained my initial photo-video experience with drag racing as my younger brother and I used to record all of Dad's passes on our home camcorders. When my Dad said he was going to Thunder Valley Raceway Park's Thunder in the Heartland event, I thought it would be an excellent opportunity to test my skills. Although I didn't get to photograph my Dad's passes, they started eliminations earlier than I expected, I captured some excellent images and networked with other professional photographers during this visit to TVRP.

After an extended period of lackluster posting, I'm now ready to begin sharing my work more consistently. Although Versatile Photography specializes in portraiture for pageants and business, I cover a wide variety of subject matter across many genres both in studio and on location. I will now be utilizing this blog to show more of my work, especially images that showcase my collaborative efforts and personal work. Here's a sample from a recent impromptu excursion in downtown Oklahoma City.

Although I am highly experienced at capturing movements during live performances, I want to improve my dance photography skills, especially for talent performances in my pageant coverage during Miss Oklahoma preliminary events. For this task, I requested the assistance of a highly talented and experienced dancer who could perform specific techniques that would photograph well. After communicating my ideas to her, I arranged the lighting to create dynamic images that highlight her lines and freeze her movement. We created awesome images during a short period, and the following images are favorites from the session along with a pullback of the lighting setup I utilized.
I am on a never ending journey to learn and apply my photographic knowledge. Since I cover a wide range of in my professional and personal photographic work, I am consistently presented with opportunities to test my knowledge. I, along with other people, have noticed positive changes in my work. I will be highlighting some of my favorite images over the next few weeks as a showcase of my growth.
This was my first beauty session of the new year, which offered opportunities to photograph the work of an awesome makeup artist. I wanted to create different looks without losing the MUA's details. Here are a few of the finished images.
With Thanksgiving being tomorrow, I reviewed the Miss Oklahoma preliminary schedule to view the remaining events, and I found that there are only four preliminary dates remain. This season alone, Versatile Photography had the opportunity to photograph six events as the official photographer and two events as a guest. I captured beautiful performances at each event, I want each and every contestant to be able to have their highlight images as keepsakes from the 2016 season.
